Applications Are Now Being Accepted for the GOL Educational Award


Gift of Life Educational Award

The Gift of Life Board of Directors has established the Gift of Life Education Award with the belief that receiving quality prenatal care and achieving some education goals are important to the overall health and well-being of the mother and infant.

Qualifications: Two awards in the amount of $1,000 each will be given to selected Gift of Life Foundation clients who have exhibited resilience, tenacity, endurance and have overcome obstacles to stay in and complete school.The awards will be given at the annual Gift of Life Foundation Board of Directors Gala. One award will be given to a high school client who has been accepted into either a two-year, four-year or technical college; and one award will be given to a currently enrolled college client.

Criteria:Applicants must be an active participant in their GOL program and in good standing in their respective institution with the potential of completing the program.

Application Process: Required documents: 1) a letter of application from the client explaining why they should receive the award and how the funds will be used; 2) letter of support from a non-family member who knows you very well, i.e., home visitor, teacher, pastor, mentor, etc.; and 3) a letter from a school official (principal, guidance counselor, program director, advisor, registrar or dean) on letterhead stating that the student is in good standing with the institution with the potential of completing the program. All documents must be submitted together to the executive director by the established deadline. The applications will be forwarded to the awards committee of the board for review and selection.

Selection Process:Applicants will be judged on how effectively each letter portrays the applicants’ resilience, tenacity, endurance, how the applicant handles adversities and the ability to complete the program.If applications are received for only one category (i.e. only high school or college), both awards will be made in that category. Recipients will be notified through their case manager.
